Visiting TeamsThe churches and groups that go door to door are "V-Teams" or Visiting Teams. They track results on a forum style website that allows the V-Teams to make changes to the site such as adding streets, report when they've been reached, what needs are needed for S-Teams to meet, etc.. To adopt streets and to make changes to content requires that you log in. Registered Team members using the site have their own user name and password. Street AdoptionChristians, groups or churches on V-teams adopt streets, or portions of streets, and make it their responsibility to make sure everyone on that street has heard the good news about Jesus and is invited to participate in the LYNC network. The V-Teams are the "front line" contacts to offer the love of Christ to our neighbors and find out who may need help. As those needs are discovered, others on the S-Teams (Service Teams) assist neighbors in the area(s) in which they have registered to help. This is how neighbors can "LYNC" their hearts and hands in love and service to their neighbors. Our goal is to reach everyone on every street! The LYNC Network has a central street adoption list so we can keep track of which streets we have covered. As you knock on doors you will meet other Christians and interested neighbors and will invite them and their Churches to adopt streets in similar fashion. Click here to register now (in the US). (Other nations go here first) The Forum: What is it and why?The forum website (www.LYNC Network.net) is simply a place to store data or information, so neighbors can communicate and coordinate their efforts to reach and serve each other. We used to talk on the front porch, but since we don't seem to have time for that any more, we can use the internet as a tool to communicate faster and at any time of the day. We use phpBB Forums, which lets you share information and files easily with others, using only a web browser. V-Teams visit their neighbors and indicate any needs and other information on the LYNC Network Forum siteV-Teams go door to door and meet their neighbors. If there is time to talk, we tell them about the LYNC Network and see if they or someone they know have any needs that the LYNC Network can help with. V-Team members also invite them to Church and share their faith to as many who have a desire to listen. If they can't talk at that moment we just leave them a CD or DVD and a printed contact card or invitation. The V-Team member fills out a Field Form with their info while on the street then transfers the info to the LYNC Network list on the Forum Site when they get home. (Or if they don't have internet, they can give the info to the webLYNC volunteer, and they will post it on the web site.) The Forum web site allows any member with a password to add content through a web browser. It is a meeting place for neighbors to exchange information and efficiently communicate neighborhood needs to the service teams. The Forum site also has Friendship forums, Member lists with contact info, Discussion boards, Announcements, Surveys and Photo and document sharing ability all accessible by anyone with internet access through a normal browser. When additions or changes are made to the Forum web site's neighborhood "Service Team volunteers & needs" forum, alert emails are sent either automatically or through the webLYNC volunteer to the "Service Team" leaders and members.Service teams then respond to the needs and make a record on the LYNC Network List (by replying in the forum). There is a topic for each need category. S-Team members subscribe to be alerted for whatever they are interested in helping with. Click here to register now (in the US).
