A True Seeker?

Many people follow wholeheartedly after their religious beliefs. The problem in declaring that all beliefs are equally acceptable is that anyone can start their own "religion" or belief system.

Some people's "beliefs" are that they have none, they truly seek that as the "truth".   Others believe they should force others to comply with their beliefs and resort to violence.

Is it sincerity, passion, excitement?  What defines a true seeker?  In essence you are saying anyone can be forgiven for any reason as long as they are sincere and live for their concept of "god"!

What of Hitler, Stalin, Osama bin Laden, Jim Jones or Saddam Hussein?  These sincere and passionate men deeply believed and acted on their convictions and tortured and murdered millions of innocent people.  Should they go to heaven because they were sincere seekers of what they believed to be the truth?

Or what about a serial killer who sincerely believed God told him to do it.

What kind of judge would let unrepentant mass murderers go free? There must be a truth and a standard by which we are judged.

Please take this discussion in the gentle spirit in which it was meant.  Iím not trying to "trip you up" or trick you. These are things we just donít always think through.  The reasoning that God does with us is not to condemn us but to forgive us.  He even told us so:

Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

Choose your response:

I still think God forgives everybody, they all go to heaven.

No, I guess there has to be some kind of judgment.
